Hattie Big Sky (Readers Circle)
5 stars. YA. Loved this book. Pioneer book that takes place in 1917-18. Orphaned Hattie, shuttled from one shirt-tail relations to another, gets a letter from an unknown uncle who bequeaths her his 420 acres of Montana land. So 16 year-old Hattie heads out on her own to "prove up" his claim. The story is told partially through letters home and letters sent to her friend Charlie who is serving in World War I. Follows her life and adventures for approximately 10 months.
