The Misadventures of Maude March
5 stars. Oh, how I love this book! I tore through it and went straight on to the sequel. It has enough humor and adventure to satisfy nearly anybody. And it's accurate in it's depiction of everyday life and how things were done. The story is told through the voice of Sallie, Maude's younger sister, and catalogs the many misadventures she and her 15-year-old sister have after they escape their self-serving guardians. With their aunt recently killed they set off to find their one remaining relative--if he's still alive. One of my very favorites. A Junior Library Guild selection.
